Key gameshow IP signed by THQ
Feb 1st 2010 at 14:57 by Ben Parfitt

Wii and DS owners will soon be treated to video game versions of popular US quiz shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune thanks to a new deal between THQ and Sony Pictures. The agreement grants THQ the rights to publish titles based on the two IP on both of Nintendo’s machines, with the option for additional platforms.
“We are excited to add two iconic properties such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune to our portfolio,” THQ’s executive VP of kids, family and casual games Doug Clemmer stated.
“The opportunity to implement new features such as Wii Speak will re-imagine how these games are played and engage fans with a whole new level of interactivity.”
Sony Pictures Consumer Products’ VP of licensing Mark Caplan added: “Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are extraordinarily popular across the globe and it was important for us to find a partner with an international vision.
“THQ's focus and proven success within the family market made them the most logical team to bring these renowned properties to new platforms, and we look forward to working with them to create family-friendly interactive experiences.”
The first game to emerge from the deal will be released later this year.
