Pocket God sales pass 2m on App Store
Jan 20th 2010 at 11:07 by Ben Parfitt

Popular 59p app Pocket God has now sold over 2m copies on the Apple App store, becoming the first paid app ever to reach the milestone.
The initial release of the game was criticised for its sparse features, but developer Bolt Creative has continued to pump out additional content for what is now a very accomplished game. Since the arrival of OS 3.0 the game has also offered in-app premium downloads.
“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout we’ve seen at the island,” Bolt Creative CEO Dave Castelnuovo stated.
“The community has been absolutely incredible embracing this game. “From the thousands of YouTube videos to the homemade Halloween costumes to the valuable user feedback we’ve received, we can’t thank our community enough for our success.”
However, it’s worth noting that although 2m sales is an impressive achievement it still represents a market penetration of just four per cent – a fact that Gamebrief’s Nicholas Lovell says proves that iPhone is not a yet a games platform.
