Braid to get US boxed release

US publisher and developer MumboJumbo is to release a boxed PC version of XBLA hit Braid. The time bending platform game has been a huge success as a download on the Xbox 360, and its retail release goes some way to demonstrating the potential of DLC platforms as a launch pad for new product.

“Braid is a really exceptional game that is highly polished and fits in well with our premium casual games lineup for 2010,” said Mark Cottam, CEO of MumboJumbo. “We’re excited to bring Braid to the retail market, and we feel that MumboJumbo can really help round out the game’s reach.”

Developed by Number None, Braid lets players manipulate time's passing, allowing protagonist Tim to solve puzzles, avoid danger and even return to life after meeting his death. With 60 levels realised in a distinct hand painted style, Braid's high review scores and popularity should serve it well as it enters the physical market.

The PC version of Braid is set for release this month, and will retail for $19.99. A boxed release outside of the US is yet to be confirmed.
