Noby Noby Boy’s Girl reaches Jupiter
Nov 23rd 2009 at 16:41 by Ben Parfitt

The collective efforts of Noby Noby Boy’s userbase has seen Girl, a space-bound being whose growth is determined by the ongoing efforts of the game’s players, finally reach Jupiter.
The game works by uploading the total length stretched by Boy when users play the game to a central server. The cumulative length of the game’s global players is then added to Girl, who stretches out a corresponding distance from Earth into the Solar System
Having arrived on February 19th this year, it took players only four days to unlock the Moon. However, low sales meant that the wait for the next planet, Mars, would have been an incredibly long one. In the end, publisher Namco decided to multiply any length uploaded to expediate the process.
As a result, Mars was reached on May 23rd and on Friday (Nov 20th) Girl at last reached Jupiter, unlocking new levels for the game.
The game’s developer Keita Takahashi, who was also the creator of cult series Katamari Damacy, admitted recently that Noby Noby Boy had failed to fulfil his initial vision for the game.
