App marketplace likely for Google Wave
Oct 26th 2009 at 16:42 by Ben Parfitt

Though the Google Wave bandwagon is yet to really get rolling, big things are expected for Google’s assault on the social networking sector – so news of a potential application store for the service will likely prick the ears of many developers.
Speaking to TechRadar, Google’s senior staff engineer Lars Ramussen stated when asked about the possibility of an App Store-like model for the service: “We haven't 100 per cent locked this in, but all the developers are asking about paid-for apps.
“Developers have asked us a lot for a market place where we'll help them sell their extensions to our users including a revenue share so we'll also make some money from it. I'll be very surprised if we don't go down that route.”
For any of you not yet au fait with Google Wave – don’t worry, no-one is. Even many of those who have gained access to the service are still unable to precisely define what it is. And with invites currently frozen, getting friends onto the service remains a big challenge.
The clearest way to describe it would be to say that’s it’s a new communication tool that allows friends to interact in real time and easily share media.
Think of it as part Google Chat, part Twitter and part Facebook. But completely different from any of them. Got that?
