PlayReplay opens doors on digital game marketing
Oct 20th 2009 at 10:28 by Will Freeman

PlayReplay is a newly established marketing company focused solely on promoting digitally distributed games across platforms such as iPhone, PC and WiiWare. In the wake of opening its doors the firm has confirmed the appointment of veteran marketeer Oliver Birch as its director.
“Developers and publishers are fast realising that digital platforms require a new marketing approach. The digital shelf is infinite and there is an incredible amount of noise to cut through, when influencing a customer's online purchasing decision. The challenge is to initiate and maintain visibility for any game" said Birch.
“We undertake an agile online marketing approach to promote a product, which continually connects and engages with the gaming community. This allows us to react to the important feedback provided by the gamers themselves and design communication strategies that gain maximum impact and effect,” he added.
Oliver brings experience gained working marketing games by Kuju Entertainment, Rebellion and Introversion Software, and more recent work on a range of titles for PSN, XBLA and iPhone.
He continued; “Developers put a significant commitment and investment into creating a game and more often than not, fall short in effectively telling the consumer about their game and where to buy it. Marketing is not usually at the heart of their business and because of this a lot of great titles are falling at the last hurdle."
PlayReplay is one of a new breed of company's tackling the challenging world of marketing digitally distributed games.
