Ngmoco laments iPhone piracy
Oct 13th 2009 at 15:03 by Stuart O'Brien

Ngmoco VP Alan Yu has been giving insight into the iPhone games publishing business at GDC Shanghai and one of the more alarming stats he offered up is that Ngmoco's iPhone games suffer a 50-90 per cent piracy rate in the first of release.
Gamasutra reports that there were plenty of other insights in Yu's presentation too.
He asserted that average iPhone game price points are falling over time ($2.27 for the Top 100 in 3Q09 compared to $2.47 in 2Q09), that $10 won't be a major price point, and that word of mouth is the biggest sales driver.
Yu ventured that the answer to falling price points could be found in in-app micropayments - Ngmoco's upcoming shooter Eliminate charges players for energy upgrades.
