Arkadium swoops for Gamelab

Solutions provider Arkadium has announced the finalisation of its deal to acquire design outfit Gamelab.com – whilst at the same time lifting the lid on a planned series of free games design workshops.

The move follows Arkadium’s high-profile buyout of Advergame.com in July of this year.

Arkadium claims that its network currently reaches more than 5m users every month, spanning 120m page views. Clients include the likes of SBC, ESPAN, Sony and Cosmopolitan.

The announcement carries few details of the planned workshops, though they will be called ‘The Game Development Design Series’ and will be based in New York.

“New York is often overshadowed by the West Coast in terms of game development, but there is a thriving game community here,” Arkadium CEO Kenny Rosenblatt stated.

“With this acquisition and workshop series our goal is to bring focus to the amazing games being created in New York. Eric Zimmerman and his team at Gamelab helped innovate game design through hit games such as Diner Dash and Subway Scramble. We’re proud that Arkadium is continuing that legacy of greatness.”
