Only one 59p app in Top 20 Grossing chart

Have you been wondering how you’re going to make money out of that iPhone game you’ve been making for the last two years if you can only charge 59p a shot? Worry no more. Why not charge £25.99? Or even £59.99?

That’s one conclusion that could be drawn from a brand new chart that Apple introduced to the App Store overnight – Top Grossing Apps. Most likely a direct response from high-profile iTunes developers, the new listings (which were not announced at Apple’s high-profile press event) offer an insight into which apps have made the most cash.

And surprisingly, just one 59p app makes it into the Top 20.

Top of the pile is satnav software CoPilot Live UK & Ireland, which costs a mighty £25.99. Close behind it is TomTom’s UK & Ireland effort, which retails for £59.99. Look lower down and you’ll also find the likes of TomTom Western Europe at £79.99 and MobileNavigation British Isles for £37.99.

The top ranking game is recent FPS Modern Combat, which costs £3.99. It also seems that things are going well for EA, which dominates the games listings with five entries.
