Sony confirms EyePet release this year
Jul 29th 2009 at 14:39 by Ben Parfitt

Since it was revealed at Leipzig back in 2008, things have been mostly quiet on the EyePet front – but Sony of America last night confirmed that the title will be released on that side of the Atlantic in time for Christmas this year.
And seeing as EyePet had until now only been confirmed for a European release, the odds are that it could be heading to UK retail in the very near future.
For those not in the know, EyePet uses the PS3’s PlayStation Eye to superimpose an image of a cuddly creature onto a moving video of the room and its inhabitants. Players are then able to interact with the creature via motions and sound – both of which the PSEye is able to recognise.
Visually, Sony has promised “Pixar-like fur and facial expressions”. It certainly looks agonisingly cute, that’s for sure.
A standalone SKU as well as a bundle pack with the PSEye are anticipated.
