This is the PlayStation phone – by nature, if not by name

CasualGaming.biz has been an outspoken believer in the very real probability of a PlayStation phone from Sony Ericsson – and whilst the brand new Aino may not be the PlayStation phone we’ve been waiting for, it’s certainly not far off.

The headline grabber is the Aino’s ability to play PS3 titles on the move via Remote Play, a technology that is currently available to PSP owners allowing the playing of both PS3, PSN and PSOne titles on the move when within range of a wi-fi connection.

In addition, PS3 owners whose machines are connected to Sony’s PlayTV – a PVR device for watching and recording television – will be able to stream TV footage onto their handsets. The device will also offer numerous PC connectivity option via its Media Home technology.

“Sony Ericsson has established itself as the communication entertainment brand and Aino highlights our commitment to bringing the latest communication technology to the market in fun and innovative ways for consumers to enjoy,” Sony Ercisson’s marrket business manager Alexandre Cardon stated.

“Media Home and Remote Play with PS3 are key steps in broadening the entertainment experiences users can enjoy on their Sony Ericsson phone and gives a taste of our vision of the future.”

The Aino itself boasts both a 3” touch screen and slide-out traditional keypad. Also bundled is an 8.1MP camera, 3G connectivity, FM radio, Google Maps, accelerometer and 8GB microSD card.
