The average Metaboli account includes two users, and increasingly the firm is seeing that whilst the main user (often the dad of the family) focuses on core titles, an increasing number of secondary account users are accessing the service to access its widening catalogue of causal games.
“We already offer many casual games and it’s been working well in terms of usage, so there’s clearly a demand,” Metaboli’s VP of marketing and product Jerome Gayet told CasualGaming.biz.
“The success of the Wii console proves there is a need for a family package. We’re going to call ours the Chillout Pack. It will target mostly women – there’s a strong trend towards women playing games. There will also be a pack for kids boasting non-violent games, PEGI 12 or under rated, with a diversity of titles – brain games, casual games, kids games, adventure games, sports games, sim games.”
Metaboli’s regional business director for Northern Europe Paul Howes added: “We’re reaching lots of new consumers – potentially millions, and many will be casual gamers looking for PC content.
“We need to make sure we feed them not just with core titles but also with something that fits between core and casual – we’re developing new subscription packs that satisfy that. We think there’s a big gap and big opportunity.”
The firm also admitted that it is currently examining the possibility of expanding its offer to mobile phones and Mac formats.
