Wii tops eBay Black Friday searches
Dec 2nd 2008 at 13:36 by Ben Parfitt

Nintendo’s Wii has managed to trump all contenders in the annual eBay Black Friday race by becoming the most searched for product across all categories on the US arm of the popular online auction site.
Throughout Black Friday, which is the name given to the day after America celebrates Thanksgiving, eBay.com sold 3,171 Wii consoles. Interestingly, the average selling price was $349 – a full $100 above the normal High Street RRP.
Wii Fit was the second most popular purchase, with sales of 1,059, whilst Sony’s PS3 was the third best selling games item – though its average auction price of $355 is below the console’s entry-level RRP.
Other top performers in the technology sector included the 3G iPhone, which sold for $547 on average, along with the Blackberry Storm ($577), iPod Touch ($298) and Garmin Nuvi GPS ($258).
