JAPAN: Nintendo shifts 7m Wii consoles
Nov 26th 2008 at 14:05 by Ben Parfitt

Nintendo is surely spending another day in cash-fuelled party mode today following another sales milestone for the firm – its massively successful Wii home console has now surpassed the seven million sales mark in Japan.
The figures come from leading Japanese sales authority Enterbrain, which publishes weekly games magazine Famitsu.
The success mirrors that enjoyed by Nintendo’s console in the US, where it was recently revealed that the Wii has shifted over 13.4 million units – taking it ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 (11.6 million) and Sony’s PS3 (5.7 million).
However, it seems that sales of Nintendo’s Wii have, perhaps understandably, slowed in Japan. The machine hit the five million sales benchmark in January, and then the six million mark in May. However, it’s taken six months to hit the next million.
