PETA launches anti Cooking Mama casual game
Nov 17th 2008 at 16:31 by Ben Parfitt

Animal rights activists PETA have launched a microsite entitled Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals which is designed to encourage consumers to contact Majesco, the North American publisher of popular casual title Cooking Mama, to voice their concerns on the ethical treatment of animals.
The site is fronted by a casual Flash game which is reminiscent of Majesco’s title but highlights the suffering endured by many barn-raised animals.
A statement from PETA reads: “She looks innocent enough – a happy woman who has a twinkle in her eye and loves to cook – but if you take just a minute to think about what happens to the animals who are killed for Mama's meals, a fun cooking game no longer seems quite so innocent.
“The idyllic barnyard scenes of years past, which are still portrayed in children's books and games, have been replaced by windowless metal sheds, wire cages, gestation crates, and other confinement systems. These operations are now known as factory farms.
“If Mama knew what happened to animals on factory farms, she very well might want Majesco Entertainment to make a new Cooking Mama game that is much more animal-friendly. Please give Mama a voice – write to Majesco and politely ask that it create more vegetarian recipes for Mama or even a game with just vegetarian recipes.”

I will never listen to these firebombing terrorist extremists. If i wanted to be a vegitarian i would also count humans as animals that should not be mistreated. this game though is awesome. :P sadistic bastards they are !

What the hell do PETA think Majesco has to do with factory farming? Also, I've played all the Cooking Mama games and there are plenty of non-meat dishes. This is just ridiculous.

Sorry, I don't quite remember the part in the game where you do horrible stuff to animals in barns. Was that censored out or something? :P

You know I figured PETA would go after Cabela's big hunt which focuses on the killing of animals not the cooking of them or other games which allow you to kill animals for fun or achievements.

Lmao - I'm a pretty big lover of animals (basically hate animal cruelty). But PETA is just the most retarded company/group around.
Do they seem to have it in their thick heads that Majesco runs these horrible farms or something?
Even if they got Majesco to make a Veggie version of the game, do they think that it will stop any of the cruelty??
What a bunch of cretins.

Just another thing for people to complain about so that their lives feel like they have meaning to it.

I understand PETA wanting to convey anti-meat messages, but do they have to target children with these gruesome violent images? My 8 year old daughter did a search for an online version of Cooking Mama (with safe-search on), and was horrified to find an awful bloody image of Mama slaughtering a turkey. This REALLY disturbed her and gave her nightmares. I know PETA's goal is to disturb people into not eating meat and such, but Cooking Mama is largely a kids game, and there's many less-traumatizing ways to teach them to respect and protect animals.
