King.com expands marketing efforts

Leading casual games portal King.com has announced that Owais Farooqui has joined the company in the newly created role of vice president of US marketing.

Farooqui has over ten years experience in the marketing sector, and comes from 3D virtual worlds company Knowledge Adventure having previously served at Discovery Education.

“King has managed to attract over 12 million unique visitors a day without a dedicated US marketing team,” King.com’s North American MD Robert Norton stated. “The appointment of Owais is proof of our intent to significantly increase our marketing efforts and to attract new members to King’s thriving community.”

Farooqui commented: “I’m excited to join King’s team, especially at this time when casual games have crossed the threshold from pure gamers to the general consumer. With my consumer experience, I will help King increase its reach and reinforce its position as the undisputed market leader in social gaming.”
