Less than 4% of gamers intend to buy DSi

A survey by Japanese games website Dengeki Online has suggested that Japanese gamers remain sceptical about Nintendo’s upcoming redesign of its globally popular DS.
The DSi boasts a 30 per cent screen size increase over the current DS Lite, as well as two integrated cameras, an on-board web browser and an SD card slot.
However, the Dengeki survey found that only 3.6 per cent of respondents were intending to buy the machine upon the release A further 29.4 per cent said that they might buy at some point in the future, but were going to wait and see for now.
In addition, 26.2 per cent were undecided about a purchase whilst 40.7 per cent said they would not be purchasing the machine at all.
The DSi continues Nintendo’s tendency to redesign its hardware on an approximate two-year cycle. However, probably wishing not to aggravate existing DS owners, Nintendo has stated that it currently has no DSi-specific titles in the works that would take advantage of the machine’s in-built hardware – most notably the cameras.
