ChaYoWo predicts Indian casual game market boom
Sep 18th 2008 at 15:26 by Michael French

Outsourcing firm ChaYoWo has told CasualGaming.biz that it expects the Indian casual games sector to grow significantly over the next few years.
ChaYoWo, which expanded into the casual space with the opening of a dedicated studio focused on making shorter-form titles in July, pitches itself as India's leading professional services firm. It currently develops titles for a number of plaforms.
"We primarily were focused on the flash and PC games market and now provide outsourcing services for a variety of platforms including iPhone, Mac, Xbox, Wii, and many more," explained founder Gaurav Mirchandani in an interview with CasualGaming.biz.
"We believe that the casual games market in India will grow exponentially over the next three to five years.
"Most importantly, this will drive growth in a variety of other sectors by using gaming as a unique medium for advertisers and corporate companies, training, and education. Hence, we continue to focus on efforts on the causal games market across the world and hope to be part of the growth curve of casual gaming in India as well."
The growth of India's casual games market comes in line with the overall growth of the country's games market and industry.
Said Mirchandani: "The industry has changed substantially over the past few due to the growth of internet users in India whom now have broadband access in their homes, at work, and in restaurants and hotels. This change has sparked a new emergence of casual gaming in India as a leisure and as lead to new small companies setting up offices for game development outsourcing mostly for flash and PC downloadable games.
"We have seen this as India become a low-cost destination for outsourcing for many different function,s such as accounting and finance outsourcing and market research outsourcing and other KPO functions. Now game development outsourcing is in the early stages in India, but I anticipate huge growth over the next three to five years of gamers in India, game studios being set up and even more outsourcing companies getting into this space."
The full interview with ChaYoWo will be published soon on CasualGaming.biz.
