CASUAL CONNECT 08: OurWorld.com, the online entertainment site from FlowPlay, has integrated the games of several leading casual developers into their virtual world – after signing two major new deals.

FlowPlay has established initial partnerships with PlayFirst and Sandlot Games, which will allow them to bring classic casual games like Diner Dash and Cake Mania to ourWorld's audience.

"The casual games industry needs innovation and new business models to keep up with evolving online consumer demands for free content and multidimensional online entertainment," said John Welch, CEO of PlayFirst, the creators of the popular Diner Dash series.

"FlowPlay provides a distribution model distinct from anything else available online today, and has already built a strong user base to support it.

“Making quality gaming experience available everywhere consumers want to play is one of our primary objectives, and we look forward to incorporating the Diner Dash story world into ourWorld's platform.”

Examples of the ‘virtual, social interpretation’ of the titles available on ourWorld include an in-world bakery based on Sandlot's popular Cake Mania, where players can be employed as the baker, play the role of customers and purchase virtual cakes.

"The casual games industry has previously been defined by the downloadable PC game business. This year marks a turning point toward more social gaming with new revenue models and a broader demographic than the middle-aged woman," said FlowPlay CEO Derrick Morton.

"FlowPlay is on the forefront of this new frontier providing some of the most recognizable casual games in a social environment where players actually interact with the brand, not simply play the game.

"In addition, we provide access to a more youthful demographic and a microtransaction infrastructure that combines to drive untapped revenue for casual game developers."
