Casual gaming gets its first ever classical score

Interactive audio specialist Somatone has teamed up with Big Fish Games to produce the first ever classical music score for an online casual game.
Somatone worked with the Berlin Film Orchestra on the music for Hidden Expedition: Amazon, which was released last week.
Somatone managing partner Kane Minkus told CasualGaming.biz:
“This is proof that casual games can have affordable music that is streets ahead of the usual low-spec, unappealing audio we hear online. We’ve done something extraordinary with Big Fish for this title, and it’s a pioneering move – after this, we hope we’ll see more games that have high-end production when it comes to audio.
“The audience is already responding. The title has sold really well since launch and users are enjoying an audio backdrop that helps to create a much more believable, cinematic, immersive world.
The fantasy, adventure setting of these games makes them perfect for a richer musical experience. It just makes a huge difference to the perception of the quality of the overall product.”
Somatone is working on more projects with Big Fish, which will be announced over the coming months.
