Jun 10th 2008 at 15:25 by Michael French

The Casual Games Association and casual games consumer site Gamezebo have opened the public voting for the 2008 Zeebys’ People’s Choice Awards, which takes place at the Casual Connect Conference in July.
The second annual Zeebys’ Award show is held on Thursday, July 24th in Seattle next month. The event seeks to reward the very best casual games, with winners chosen by a public vote, and offers up Craft Awards voted by the Casual Games Association.
Voting is now open at http://www.zeebys.com/vote-2.php and will remain open until July 5th. Nominees have been chosen by the Casual Games Association members.
As well as being hosted as part of he Casual Connect event, the show will be taped by Lifetime Networks and broadcast on its Web site, myLifetime.com.
"This year's Zeebys will be bigger and better than last year's to celebrate the ascent of casual games into mainstream entertainment," commented Joel Brodie, CEO of Gamezebo and founder of the Zeebys. "We are now a $ 2.25 billion dollar a-year industry, and compete with the likes of TV, music and movies. We've arrived."
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Casual Games Giving Back’ - 100% of all ticket sales will benefit the Zeebys’ official charity partner, Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. Tickets for the event are $20 and can be found at www.starlight.org/zeebys2008.
"What better way to celebrate the innovation and diversity of casual games than to open voting to members of the public and support a cause as important as Starlight's," added Jessica Tams, head of the Casual Games Association.
