Brain training game portal gets $3m funding
Jun 3rd 2008 at 13:34 by Michael French

Lumos Labs, which runs the Lumosity.com site which lets users sign up for a daily program of brain training games, has secured $3m from a number of angel investors.
TechCrunch reports that a number of US venture capitalist firms have stepped up to support the site - namely Pequot Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and earlier angel investors, including Michael Dearing.
"We’ve been doing a ton in gaming, and have looked at a lot of casual games plays, but this is one of the few with a solid business model out of the gate, a unique value proposition, and has been growing very nicely," Pequot’s Amish Jani is quoted as saying.
Lumosity offers a number of daily 'brain training' challenges - some are free, but users are encouraged to subscribe $10 a month for the full service of games which also monitor your progress and how much your brain power is improving and give users a 'Brain Performance Index' score out of 800.
The company was founded in 2005.
(And this reporter's Brain Performance Index is 602.)
