Companies that don’t allow their staff to take a ten minute break could be cumulatively losing the UK £4 billion a year.

That’s according to a new report published by PopCap Games, which indicates taking a ten-minute online break at work each day reduces stress and sharpens the mind.

Employment law firm Peninsula found that seven out of ten companies – including Credit Suisse and British Gas – now ban access to social networking sites, and are considering vetoing personal internet access altogether.

The PopCap Break Report 2008 highlights the negative impact this could have on the UK economy.

According to ABC, the research shows that far from distracting employees from their work, e-breaks actually serve to increase staff efficiency and morale, benefiting UK businesses.

I saw this report as well and I simply have to question the source! Popcap had a whole ad campaign around it?
