UBISOFT: Casual to drive ongoing growth
May 29th 2008 at 17:00 by Ben Parfitt

Following an exciting couple of days for French publisher Ubisoft, chief executive Yves Guillemot has said that he predicts casual gaming will drive continued growth in the games market for at least another three years.
Speaking to Reuters, Guillemot explained that the reason that he believes this console cycle will enjoy this continued boom is down to the constantly evolving consumer base it now enjoys – thanks mostly to the rise of ‘casual’ gamers.
"There could be a peak in the consoles market in 2009, which means a peak in the games market from 2010 or 2011,” he stated.
"As far as I'm concerned, I don't think we have seen everything the market can offer us. We are really in a new revolution because new clients are arriving on the market. If we can give them good quality the market won't peak straightaway."
Aside from the headline grabbing Ubidays announcements concerning titles such as Far Cry 2, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Tom Clancy’s EndWar, the firm also announced seven new casual titles for its Games For Everyone range. Click here to read about Ubisoft's casual offering.
