UBIDAYS ‘08: Ubisoft extends Games for Everyone range

French publisher Ubisoft has considerably boosted its mass-market Games for Everyone range with the announcement of seven new titles at its recent Ubidays event in Paris.

Ubisoft has already enjoyed great success with existing titles in this range, which include the likes of My French Coach, Imagine Babies, My Word Coach, Dogz, Platinum Sudoku, Pawly Petz and Mind Quiz.

Here’s a run down of the titles just announced:

My Health Coach: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking (DS)
A first for gaming, casual or otherwise, The Easy Way to Stop Smoking is fronted by successful self-help author Allen Carr. The software allows users to define their own personal smoking habits, structuring a quitting programme around their specific needs. It will be interesting to see how this performs in the market – very new games are as unashamedly indicative of the new dawn of casual mass-market gaming as this.

Imagine Girl Band (DS)
This further extension of the successful Imagine formula seems so logical it’s amazing it hasn’t happened before now. Latching on to the current teenage obsession with pop culture and music, this game will see players join a pop group. When playing wirelessly with friends, players will able to take one instrument each – each of which has its own unique controls.

Imagine Fashion Model (DS)
Another logical step for the Imagine series, this title sees young girl gamers assume the role of a fashion model. The game sees players design clothes, take part in shows and even use their DS horizontally to allow them to flick through catalogues and magazines.

Imagine Teacher (DS)
Perhaps a less obvious extension of the Imagine brand, it’s still clear to see why Imagine Teachers would appeal to the franchise’s core 6-14 year old demographic. The title sees gamers take charge of class in a new school, and plays out via a succession of themed mini-games. Events include teaching, organising parties and class management.

Dogz (Wii)

Petz has already proved a big success on DS, and Ubisoft will no doubt be pleased to beat Nintendo’s Nintendogs to the Wii (which, incidentally, there is still no word on) with this brand new title. Customisation remains a huge element of the game, which also contains an impressive 18 breeds. Unsuprisingly, Dogz will make full use of the Wiimote when allowing players to interact with their digital canine playthings.

Also announced were:
Babies: Party (Wii) – the first Wii instalment of the publisher’s popular handheld series
My Health Coach: Manage Your Weight (DS) – another self-help title, this time fronted by professional nutritionist Marie Marquis.
