Guitar Hero III celebrates mobile success
May 28th 2008 at 17:42 by Ben Parfitt

Hands-On Mobile, the developer of the mobile version of Guitar Hero III, has confirmed that its title has nearly reached the one million download mark.
The milestone makes it one of the fastest selling games in mobile history. It's also proof that big hitting console IPs can make a successful transition from the home TV screen to the mobile screen.
"Fans of the Guitar Hero console games have been very impressed with the title's translation onto handsets," Hands-On Mobile chief executive officer David White stated. "Guitar Hero III Mobile has opened the eyes of a whole new group of consumers to the world of mobile games."
Activision will later this year release a version of Guitar Hero for Nintendo's portable DS device. Also upcoming for home consoles is Guitar Hero IV, which will boast additional instruments such as a drum kit and microphone.
This very much follows in the footsteps of EA's recently released Rock Band, which this week entered the UK software charts in sixth place - despite carrying an RRP of £180.
