Alawar ‘eyeballing’ console releases

The head of US operations for fast-growing casual games portal and publisher Alawar has told CasualGaming.biz that the firm is considering a move onto Xbox 360 and Wii.
David Laprad (pictured) said that the firm already enjoys success with both published and online PC casual games, and is aware that there is plenty of potential to explore in the home console market.
Alawar leverages close relationships with developers – particularly those in Eastern Europe – to bring consumers popular titles such as Virtual Farm, Supermarket Mania and its Magic Ball series of Breakout games.
Many of the firm’s most popular online titles – available at its online portal – have been brought to PC. And Laprad said that the firm is keen to port these onto console – either via digital distribution or even boxed releases.
He told CasualGaming.biz:
“Many of our titles are available on CD in boxed versions. We've joined forces with CD publishers in more than 30 countries, including the US, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, Italy, Portugal and others. For us, the retail question has been settled. Our next move is consoles.”
He added: “We're eyeballing the console market with great interest and have already made some steps in that direction. For starters, we plan to port our most successful releases to the most popular consoles, thus bridging the gap between the PC casual gaming world and the massive console market.”
